In current times when majority of people are at home taking all precautions, still in fear, there are some who are reaching out to help people in distress and those facing different problems in life due to lockdown. In our housing society itself, I have come across such individuals who have been reaching out to provide food parcels to migrant workers, poor homeless children and safety equipment to frontline workers. When I see them reaching out fearlessly, I feel they all are motivated by some larger purpose in life. Purpose which doesn't let them sit, purpose which is above all fear and anxiety.

People who have found their purpose are constantly motivated and in action throughout. They cannot sit idle. They are indifferent to ups and downs. They are focussed and have a constant source of bliss within.

Narmada Parikrama is a Hindu pilgrimage where the devotee has to complete a round of the river Narmada, which is a highly revered river by Hindus. One couple after completing the pilgrimage decided to commit themselves for service of the devotees for specific period of year.Every year they stay on bank of the river for few months ,cooking and serving food to devotees 24*7 who visit them on the pilgrimage.

I remember during my childhood, an elderly person in his 70s, used to visit our house on his bicycle, monthly, to collect donation and give us a newsletter. He was so dedicated to the purpose and used to travel throughout the city collecting donations for the organisation he was committed to. I used to wonder why he took so much efforts and did this voluntary work. But now I realise what motivated him and kept him so active.

People who are driven by purpose seem to be more focussed and content in life. They have a zeal and constant source of positive energy for moving on the chosen path. Age is just a number for them.

My grandmother in law is in her early 90s.She has committed herself to gain understanding of Lord Krishna. She reads and teaches Shrimad Bhagwat to all everyday without fail. Her discipline is amazing and her life revolves around her objective. We get to see such examples around and find such people happy in their own space. They are not dependent upon anyone for their happiness and joy. Their purpose pervades their life.Prakash Amte,Anand kumar,Abhay and Rani Bang all seem to have found a larger purpose in their lives.

I was watching a web series another day wherein there is an astrologer who is aware of his future and his last day. A student asks him that isn't he afraid to which he replies that when an individual finds the purpose of his life, cycle of life - death no longer bothers him or her.

Most of us spend life doing mundane tasks without even realising that we have come here with some specific purpose. We are so entangled that we are constantly experiencing happiness, sorrow, anger, fear. But a time comes when we wish to rise above all these, to experience constant bliss. This is the point I feel, we begin search for purpose of our life. What we really want. The answer is not easy and the search continues. But if found it can be a true blessing for sure!!!
